  1、Physical properties
  Status:Ethylene is a colorless gas at room temperature and pressure.
  Density:Ethylene has a density of approximately 1.178 kg/m³,which is slightly lighter than air.
  Melting point and boiling point:Ethylene has a melting point of-169.4℃and a boiling point of-103.7℃.
  Solubility:Ethylene is insoluble in water,slightly soluble in ethanol,but soluble in organic solvents such as ether,acetone,and benzene.
  Odor:Ethylene has a slight sweet or grassy odor.

  2、Ethylene source
  The main source of ethylene production is petroleum.

  (1) Industrial sector
  Ethylene is an important organic chemical raw material widely used in the production of synthetic materials such as polyethylene,ethylene propylene rubber,and polyvinyl chloride.It is also the basis for synthesizing basic organic synthesis materials such as ethanol,ethylene oxide,ethylene glycol,acetaldehyde,acetic acid,etc.
  (2) In the field of agriculture
  Ethylene is an endogenous hormone in plants,and all parts of higher plants,such as leaves,stems,roots,flowers,fruits,tubers,seeds,and seedlings,produce ethylene under certain conditions.It is the smallest molecule among plant hormones,and its physiological function is mainly to promote fruit and cell enlargement.Grain maturation promotes leaf,flower,and fruit abscission,as well as inducing flower bud differentiation,breaking dormancy,promoting germination,inhibiting flowering,organ abscission,dwarfing plants,and promoting adventitious root formation.

  Ethylene is also used as a ripening agent for fruits and vegetables,and is widely used for environmentally friendly ripening of fruits such as navel oranges,honey oranges,bananas,etc.In addition,ethylene is also used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and high-tech materials.
  (4) Application scenarios of ethylene with different purities
  High purity ethylene(such as 99.999%)is commonly used in industrial applications that require high precision,such as semiconductor manufacturing,scientific research,etc.Due to its extremely low impurity content,it can ensure the stable operation of equipment and the high quality of products.
  Medium purity ethylene(such as 99.95%)is suitable for general industrial applications,such as chemical production,plastic manufacturing,etc.Although the purity is slightly lower,it can still meet most industrial needs.
